Nallakaruppan Receives SMS Threats

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's former ally, Datuk S. Nallakaruppan who is helping the Barisan Nasional in its campaign for the Permatang Pauh by-election said he had received more than 10 SMS threats demanding that he leave Permatang Pauh.

He said the threats started coming the day he came to the area and in the latest development, some men carrying Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) flags came to his Seberang Jaya operations room and threatened two of his workers there.

Met by reporters after attending a campaign rally organised by Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth in Permatang Pasir here Friday night, he said they wanted the operations room to be closed and not interfere in the by-election.

The rally attracted thousands to come and was one of the best attended BN political rallies in its campaign so far.

Nallakaruppan, who is also the president of the Malaysian Indian United Party (MIUP), said he had made police reports on the SMS threats and would be making another on the development at this operations room.

Earlier, in his speech at the rally, he alleged that Anwar had received money totalling RM60 million from gaming operator Magnum Corporation Bhd.

"Anwar personally received the money from me. I don't know what he did with it but he twisted it around and accused me of taking the money," he said.

Nallakaruppan, who had once been public affairs director at Magnum Corporation, said Anwar, when he was finance minister and deputy prime minister, had approved many licences for gaming outlets.

He said he was making the revelation because he loved the country and did not want a leader who could not be trusted to lead the nation.

"I made mistakes before and as such I ask for forgiveness for having followed Anwar," he said, adding that it came as no surprise to him to hear all kinds of allegations about Anwar as he had known who he really was for 30-odd years.

"After his tennis sessions with me I know where he went, that is why I am not shocked," he said.
He added that he had kept five tape recordings abroad and if anything were to happen to him, they would be exposed.

As such, he urged the voters in Permatang Pauh not to make the wrong choice in the by-election, polling of which is on Tuesday.

kzso - 2 x 5 and 5 x 2. if he is sincere to proof of anwar wrongdoings why did not expose the tapes right now? why wait? waiting for the 'right' offer? RM 60M for the tapes?
