A Samad Said picked up by police

KUALA LUMPUR: National laureate Datuk A Samad Said was picked up by police following a controversial incident where he recited a poem in the presence of several Sang Saka Malaya flags at Dataran Merdeka on August 30.
“I am on the way to Dang Wangi now. I am being escorted by three policemen,” tweeted Samad, 81, who is Bersih co-chair.
Bersih co-chair Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan confirmed his arrest to The Star.
His lawyer Latheefa Koya said Samad was picked up from his home by police officers at around 12.30am Wednesday.
Latheefa believed Samad’s arrest was connected to the Sang Saka Malaya incident.
“I am on the way to the station, so I cannot provide any more details as of now,” she said.
On Monday, activists Adam Adli and Hishamuddin Rais were detained in Dang Wangi for sedition where they were shown in a viral video clip flying the Sang Saka Malaya flags while Samad recited a poem in Dataran Merdeka.
The Sang Saka Malaya is a red-and-white flag with 12 yellow stars set in four columns reportedly proposed as Malaya’s national flag by an association in the 1940s.
It was reported that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had called on Samad to turn himself into the police over the matter.
Dang Wangi OCPD ACP Zainuddin Ahmad confirmed his arrest adding that he was being investigated for sedition.
Ambiga said she was shocked at the treatment meted out to the respected poet.
“Was his arrest at midnight just to take a statement truly warranted when they could have easily taken his statement tomorrow morning?
“Pak Samad is a Malaysian hero and this unnecessary harassment will earn the disgust of right thinking Malaysians although it appears the authorities care very little for what people think,” she told The Star.
***************
Samad Said is no ‘Hero’. He is an anarchist and anti-Constitution.
It is gross disrespect for the nation for him and his anarchist comrades to do what they did to tarnish the Merdeka Eve celebrations with skewed and lies about Malaysia’s Kemerdekaan.
It is wrong for The Star to report the flag was proposed by “An association in the 1940s”. Putera-AMCJA is not “an association’. It was an outlawed political organisation which was supported by the same Min Yuens who supported and later fought as terrorists with the outlawed Malayan Communist Party.
Anti-Constitution and anarchist Hishamuddin Rais should be arrested and charged under Sedition Act 1948 for his seditious statements.
History have proven that the Malay leaders and strong support of the Malays via UMNO were the leading element and victors in this nation achieving Kemerdekaan. This was achieved through the wisdom via a series of negotiations, consultations and eventually a representation to go to White Hall, based on the support of the people through democratic means.
Unlike the leftists and communists, the right wing Malay leaders did not force themselve onto others nor did they need to shed any blood to achieve Kemerdekaan.
British unilaterally declared the Malayan Union on 1 April 1948, actually failed even after all HRH Rulers inked the declaration and it was announced in Westminster Palace because the Malays rejected the notion for making the Tanah Melayu a crown colony.

Some of the articles that were included in the negotiations were the position of HRH Rulers, Islam as the religion of the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, Malay as the official language, Special Rights of the Malays and determination of the subjects of HRH Rulers. All of these are still reflected in the Federal Constitution in the present day.

Perjanjian Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, 21 January 1948
An agreement was achieved and inked on 21 January 1948 as the ‘Perjanjian Persekutuan Tanah Melayu’. The Federation of Malaya was established on 1 February 1948 where as the Malayan Union was officially disestablished on that date. The ‘Perjanjian Persekutuan Tanah Melayu’ treaty was the basis of the Federation of Malaya (now Malaysia) Constitution when Merdeka was fully achieved on 31 August 1957.
The Malayan Communist Party heightened their rebellion to gain control of the nation, after Persekutuan Tanah Melayu was officially formed with the agreement of HRH Rulers and UMNO, representing the Malays and British. They began to invoke brutal use of force in their harassment for power. After the murder of three British planters in Sungai Siput, Perak on 16 June 1948 by MCP troops, Emergency was declared.
The War against the Communist Terrorists had begun.
More than 18,000 lives, mostly Malayans, were lost during the 12 warring years of Emergency. Many of them are non combatants, women and children. The “Butchers of Malaya” invoked horrible atrocities, caused terrible pain and destroyed properties, homes and even villages, in their rebellion to form a communist state in Malaya.
In all fairness after gaining the landslide support of Malayans especially the Malays in the 1955 Federal Consultative Council general election and self rule of Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, Chief Minister and UMNO President Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra asked to meet Chin “Butcher of Malaya” Peng. The ‘Baling Talks’ was arranged. They met on 29 December 1955.

Amnesty was offered to the communist rebels and they are free to return to their Malayan home, provided they lay down arms. However, it was rejected and the war continued.
It is undeniable MCP and many of their leaders were leading component and activists of Putera-AMCJA. The attempt to glorify the Putera-AMCJA struggle for independence which include flying their flag at present day when the fact that Kemerdekaan was achieved by the tireless work of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra and other founding fathers and their non violence approach should be regarded as anti-Constitution, an attempt to commit anarchy and being seditious.
“31 Ogos bukanlah Hari Kemerdekaan. 31 Ogos ialah Hari Malapetaka!”.
These band of bandits in the likes of Hishamuddin Rais. Samad Said, Ambiga and other Opposition leaders are trying manipulate history with their contentious intepretation of history and perpetuated lies, in the intention that the position of UMNO and the Malays are weakened. This is their only sordid hope to get the minority to overpower the majority and gain control over them.
