MACC out to get warrant to raid Selangor exco office

SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is trying to get a warrant to raid the office of Selangor executive councillor Roziah Ismail after their officers were denied entry.

The MACC had turned up at her office at the state secretariat building here on Wednesday afternoon as part of its investigation into the alleged abuse of constituency funds by certain elected representatives in the state.

Roziah is the exco in charge of welfare, women affairs and science, technology and innovation.

However Roziah’s staff officers refused to allow them entry, and her lawyers subsequently arrived and told the MACC officers that they could not enter without a warrant.

The MACC officers are now seeking a warrant from a magistrate.

On July 15, the MACC raided the office of another state executive councillor, Ean Yong Hian Wah. They took his aide Teoh Beng Hock in for questioning as a witness.

Teoh was found dead the next day near the MACC office.
