MCA man confronts Guan Eng at dinner function
BUTTERWORTH: Upset with the Chief Minister for allegedly bad-mouthing MCA and its president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, a party loyalist rushed towards Lim Guan Eng’s table during a dinner gathering to seek an explanation.Bagan MCA division Youth chief David Chua said he rushed to the VIP table, where Lim was seated soon after he had delivered a 10-minute speech at the Taman Dedap/ Jalan 6 Phor Thor Temple Committee dinner at about 9.45pm on Sunday.
“Guan Eng made unreasonable comments about my party in a public gathering, where members from various political parties were present.
“It was not a political forum and he was out of line,” Chua said in an interview yesterday.
Standing at the VIP table, Chua said he asked state exco member and Bagan Jermal assemblyman Lim Hock Seng why MCA was condemned in such a manner.
“Luckily, a few friends quickly whisked me away before matters turned ugly,” he said.
Hock Seng, when contacted yesterday, claimed that apart from charging forward in a threatening manner, Chua also shook the table as if he wanted to overturn it.
“Chua was seated three or four tables away from our table and suddenly he came rushing towards us.”
Guan Eng, during a press conference after visiting a baby born on the National Day at KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam yesterday, said he was surprised by Chua’s action.
