MB Khalid days are numbered and will there be a ‘civil war’ within Selangor Pakatan Rakyat?... Percaturan politik disebalik kedegilan Khalid & Rodziah

MB Khalid days are numbered and will there be a ‘civil war’ within Selangor Pakatan Rakyat?

The series of the development within the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government since coming onto power post 8 March 2008 12th GE went into endless and spiral conundrum. We at BigDogDotCom felt and rather convinced that Pakatan Rakyat Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim days are really numbered.

Clear indications are:

1. He did not accompany HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor upon the reception and dedication of KD Tunku Abdul Rahman on Thursday

2. State Exco Dr Hassan Ali went to present the case on the ’sale of alcohol policy’ to HRH Sultan Selangor instead of the MB, which is highly unlikely when an MB is still on duty. It suspected that the discussion did not only centre on the ‘alcohol issue’

3. The Section 23 temple relocation proposal attracted the attention of HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah officially and also personally.

4. Has the Selangor State Government gone into serious financial position, that MB Khalid proposed to use Baitulmal Zakat’s funds fordevelopment, including infrastructure purposes? The proposal of using ‘zakat for development’ really did not go well with HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah

5. The Selangor State Exco really went into badlight when MACC investigations centred on intensified allegations about DAP elected representatives being involved in abuse of power, corrupt practices and finally Lords of the Underworld Vices

6. Point #5 was actually highlighted by two PKR elected representatives, YB Wee Choo Keong and YB Azmin Ali. They insisted that Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government be revamped and thus highlighted the emminence of ‘infghting’

7. Personal loan of RM 67 million to Bank Islam and High Court ordered to pay back does not look good for the Chief Executive of the wealthiest state in the Federation. On that score, the rakyat should be reminded of Khalid’s past corporate endevour

8. The ‘Eli Wong Affair’ did not result into her dismissal but instead MB Khalid was adamant to maintain her in the Exco. This is a rather distasteful political decision. Moral with regards to ’sex scandal’ is a sensitive issue within Selangor State Government as there was already a precedence. Former MB Tan Sri Abu Hassan Omar was asked to go by then Prime Minsiter Dato’ Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for an alleged ’sex scandal’

9. The ‘Khalid-Lembu-Korban’ fiasco is still fresh in everyone’s mind when funds from one of the State’s GLC were used to pay for the 46 slaughter cows for a Parliamentary constituency outside the state

10. The ‘industrial-pig-rearing-for-Singapore-maket’ approval really did not go down well amongst the predominantly Malay Muslims, especially in the Kuala Langat-Sepang districts. And yet this was the first State Government decision after Pakatan Rakyat took over

If this attempt by one of MB Khalid’s Exco Dr. Jayakumar attempted to lie about the ‘outsiders attending the disgracefully disastrous town hall meeting on Saturday’ and being blown wide open by MSMs, then the credibility of Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government under Khalid will sink deeper.

All these grievances are believed to be ‘conveyed’ to HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. The Selangor Civil Service is also believed to be ‘not in tandem’ with MB Khalid and his Exco. The decision to bannish five BN elected representatives which include Opposition Leader Dato’ Seri Mohd. Khir Toyo from the State Assembly is thought to be ‘politically detrimental’, especially MB Khalid’s own party PKR stands by the concept of ‘justice’. The question now who will replace MB Khalid if and when HRH Sultan Selangor no longer want him as the Menteri Besar?

Will it be YB Dr Hassan Ali or YB Azmin Ali?

Even within Pakatan Rakyat, there is endless ’sibling rivalry’ on this ’succesion plan’. For one, the appointment of Dr. Hassan, the most junior partner within Selangor Pakatan Rakyat would not go well amongst the DAP and Non Malay-Muslim PKR. The most clear demonstration on this fact is the ’sale of alcohol’ issue recently in Shah Alam and open contradiction.

Two, the strange-bedfellows-unholy-marriage-of-covenience DAP-PAS spat and deep mutual distruss has not been resolved yet.

Three, the intra-PAS rivalry of the ‘Ulama Vs Erdogan’ is still on going. The result of the recent party elections shows that the ‘Erdogan faction’, who are known to be pro-Anwar “Acused for second time of sodomy” Ibrahim lost. Many within PAS incessantlty are not comfortable on the relationship with Anwar.

Then there is the intra-PKR ’sibling rivalry’ which is believed to escalate into a ‘conspiracy’. It was very clear that YB Azmin was partyless-Opposition Leader Anwar “Mat King Leather” Ibrahim’s choice for the Selangor MB. However, PKR President Wan Azizah, who is Anwar’s wife for thirty years is said to be still sore and suspicious of Anwar’s alleged and widely spoken about intimate relationship with a woman that she insisted that Khalid should be MB.

The truth has yet to prevail. These prickly factors are inadvertently not good for Selangor and the rakyat. Being the wealthiest and most industrious state, Selangor naturally demands more of and from the Leadership. Consider the fact when BN Government led by Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohd. Khir Toyo was ousted on 8 March 2008 in a ‘democratic coup d’etat’, Selangor had RM 1.2 billion accumulated in its coffers and reserves. How and where the monies went, is still a mystery.

Undoubtably, in the final analysis is all about ‘money’, the underlying factor for who ever desire to ascend and remain in power.

Spiralling out of control?

INSIGHT by JOCELINE TAN

Speculation of people preparing to jump ship in Selangor has led to talk that the state administration is about to follow the way of Perak.

THE office of Selangor Speaker Teng Chang Khim looks out onto the undulating landscape of Shah Alam.

Teng himself was a picture of confidence. He has come a long way from being a DAP firebrand to Speaker of the Selangor Legislative Assembly, where his years as an assemblyman and lawyer have come into use.

He looked sheepishly when teased about his plush office. Several years ago, when still in the opposition, he had objected so strongly to the cost of the new Legislative Assembly wing that the then administration shaved it from RM70mil to RM50mil.

Changed scenario: The happy smiles here are now a thing of the past. Teng (left) and Khalid (second from left) are still chummy but there has been intense speculation that Badrul (standing) is being courted by the other side while Hasan has been behaving like an opposition member in his own state government.

Now, in one of those supreme ironies, he is the beneficiary of the swank facility.

The view beyond the office was picture perfect – serene blue skies, puffs of snow-white clouds and lots of greenery.

But as everyone knows, it has been anything but serene in the Pakatan Rakyat state administration in recent months.

There is open sniping among some Pakatan assemblymen and the air is filled with talk of crossovers to the Barisan Nasional. There has even been speculation that the state government may fall.

The latest issue of Selangor kini, the state newsletter, more or less acknowledges the situation because its front page report declares that “Rakyat bersama kerajaan Selangor” (the people are with the Selangor government).

Are things about to spiral out of control?

Some say three assemblymen are about to jump ship, two from PKR and one from PAS. The erratic behaviour of PKR’s Port Klang assemblyman Badrul Hisham Abdullah has singled him out as one of those who may jump.

Others go so far as to claim that up to eight people will cross over, a move that will bring the ratio between Pakatan and Barisan from 36 vs 20 to an even match of 28 vs 28.

No holds barred: The book 50 Suspicions About A Man Named Anwar Ibrahim attacks the credentials of the Opposition Leader.

“There’s no worry, the Selangor government is okay,” said Teng, one of DAP’s leading orators and a sought-after speaker at party do’s. The evening before the interview, he told a DAP dinner in Kulai, Johor, that if the state government was so unstable, he would not be going around the country giving speeches.

He pointed out that even if eight assemblymen abandoned Pakatan, the Barisan would still be short of five men.

The reason: At the last State Legislative Assembly sitting, five Barisan assemblymen, including Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, were suspended.

Dr Khir will be out of action for 12 months and the rest for six months. This should give Pakatan some breathing space.

“They are creating all this talk about being toppled to keep their own people from running away,” said Dr Khir.

The former Mentri Besar is a sort of favourite villain for the Pakatan politicians in Selangor. They blame him for almost everything that goes wrong. At last count, he was blamed as the mastermind behind a conspiracy to bring down the Government using the MACC as his tool.

“They have suspended me and still they are hunting me down, accusing me of this and that. Am I really that powerful?” he said.

He also denied having anything to do with two books which have mysteriously appeared in parts of Selangor.

One book is an outright attack on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a style reminiscent of the 50 Dalil publication that had preceded the ex-deputy prime minister’s downfall.

The other, a slimmer volume, is a smear attempt at Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, accusing him of failing to safeguard Malay interests.

However, the insider information in the second book has led to suspicions that it was engineered not by Dr Khir but someone within Pakatan – or what some called a “snake in the grass”.

Far left: An anonymous publication accuses the Selangor Mentri Besar of having betrayed the Malay interests.

The anonymously authored books have added to the sense of siege.

The administration has not felt secure since the scandal over the circulation of intimate pictures of its state exco Elizabeth Wong. It was a stark reminder that their enemies are everywhere, waiting to pounce on their weaknesses and contradictions.

Perak’s fall to the Barisan earlier this year confirmed that their opponents meant business.

The political pace has gone up several notches since Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took over as Prime Minister.

The temperature has inched even higher following the Teoh Beng Hock tragedy.

The nature of Teoh’s death not only put the Barisan and MACC on the defensive, it also swung the spotlight onto the state government, its personalities and their discrepancies.

For instance, the rivalry between Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali and the Mentri Besar, and the controversies surrounding exco member Ronnie Liu are known to all and sundry.

“They are their own worst enemies. We are only doing our job as the opposition. You think we can force Azmin to grill the MB during assembly sittings?” asked Datuk Subahan Kamal, the Umno assemblyman for Taman Templer.

But no one has been more controversial than Setia Gombak assemblyman Datuk Dr Hasan Ali, who has been on a one-man crusade to implement Islamic law in the state.

He has been unable to see eye-to-eye with his DAP and PKR colleagues from day one. They complain that he is an even better “opposition” than any of the Umno men.

Just a few days ago, Hasan and Teng had a very public argument over Hasan’s push for mosque officials to detain Muslims who consume alcohol in the state.

The sale of alcohol has become a big thing between the two parties and underscores the conflicting priorities and objectives of DAP and PAS.

But generally, said Teng, many of the Pakatan wakil rakyat had known and worked with each other before they came to power.

And despite their differences, the racially-balanced composition of the administration has been one of its strengths. The previous Pakatan government in Perak had struggled mainly because of the image that it was dominated by DAP assemblymen.

The old world elements in Umno are not adverse to a backdoor takeover in Selangor despite the Perak experience.

But the younger set favour a more constitutional route because they are more in touch with the ground and they are aware of the sentiment of younger voters.

“Of course we want Selangor back but the better way would be through the general election. This period is a trial for everyone. Let the rakyat compare who can do a better job and who they want. The Barisan has done more good than bad things and we can change for the better,” said Subahan.

The state government’s early days in power were buoyed by its expose of the excesses of the previous administration, with Dr Khir providing most of the material, such as the so-called study tours to Disneyland and his multi-million ringgit villa.

But exploiting the failure of one’s opponents can only carry one so far. Pakatan has to start showing that it deserves to run Selangor, that it will not repeat the mistakes of the Barisan government, and that it can do better.

It still enjoys sweeping Chinese support but the Malay ground has begun to warm up to Umno. The administration’s longer term survival will depend on delivery. The economic well-being of the people is crucial to a highly urbanised state like Selangor.

The Government has to increase disposable income, create jobs – especially high end jobs – and inspire confidence in its economic performance.

As for the immediate future, Teng hinted that the Mentri Besar is not going to wait till he loses the majority in the house before opting for snap elections. He has no intention of repeating the fatal mistake of his Perak counterpart, that is, to press for fresh polls only after losing the majority.

Khalid, it seems, is prepared to go back to the people even if only three assemblymen cross to the other side.

Dimana Menteri Besar Selangor?

Scorpene II

Upacara gilang gemilang yang disiarkan secara langsung oleh RTM ini turut dihadiri dan meriahkan oleh DYMM Sultan Selangor Tuanku Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Perdana Menteri Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, Timbalan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd. Yasin dan Menteri Pertahanan Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Turut hadir ialah Ketua Setiausaha Negara Tan Sri Mohd. Sidek Hassan, Panglima Angkatan Tentera Jen. Dato’ Seri Azizan Ariffin (TUDM), Ketua Polis Negara Tan Sri Musa Hassan, Panglima Tentera Laut DiRaja Malaysia Laksmana Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar, Panglima Tentera Darat dan Panglima Tentera Udara DiRaja Malaysia. DYTM Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah juga mencemar duli meraikan peristiwa ini.

Persoalan sekarang, dimanakah Menteri Besar Selangor Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim?

Peristiwa ini berlaku di Pengakalan TLDM Sultan Salahuddin, Pulau Indah, Selangor. Tidakkah sebagai MB Selangor, Khalid wajib hadir kerana:

1. Mengiringi DYMM Sultan Selangor

2. Majlis rasmi Kerajaan Persekutuan dalam negeri Selangor

3. Menghormati kehadiran rasmi DYMM SPB YDP Agong dalam negeri Selangor

How far will Pakatan Rakyat leaders empower and implement new inconsistent laws?

The recent tiff between Selangor Pakatan Rakyat leaders pertaining to the alcohol issue seems to be spiraling into deeper complications. The Menteri Besar, who is caught in the middle, has allowed decisions that would complicate matters further. Religious officers, which include mosque officials are now given empowerment to act on these alcohol issues.

Selangor mosque officers can now arrest Muslims drinking in public

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor mosque officers – imam, nazir, bilal and siak – are now empowered to arrest Muslims drinking alcohol in public places, said Selangor executive councillor for religious matters Dr Hassan Ali.

He said they could also arrest Muslims selling and storing alcohol beverages.

The officers were also empowered to arrest Muslims who commit offences deemed disrespectful in the month of Ramadan.

Hassan Ali said that more than 1,500 officers would be briefed on the relevant enactments so that they understood how to enforce the law properly, including gathering enough evidence, before bringing the suspects to Syariah Court.

**************************

This decision ought to be seen in different perspectives. The main point is that some of these mosque offcials that the Selangor Government empowering are not officials within the State Government formal structure. In fact most of them only are gven allowance for their ‘adhoc’ duties. Then eventually one might start to question the legality of this empowerment.

Another is that, what is the stand of DAP and PKR, who are PAS’s equal ‘Ketuanan Rakyat’ strange-bedfellow partners in the unholy and ‘marriage of incovenience’. Isn’t any of PAS’s partners want to raise this as something which ‘infringing into human rights’?

The next “Thirteen Million Ringgit” question is that, would this be a national policy if and when Pakatan Rakyat under Anwar “Drama King” Ibrahim fulfil his ‘16 September’ promise?

Our next contention is that, would champion of ‘civil liberty’ like law practicioner Haris Ibrahim, who has been an advocate almost everything that PAS and Pakatan Rakyat stood for, stand by the merits, spirit and implementation of this latest Selangor Pakatan Rakyat decision?

Then again, one wonders how much of this empowerment will carry on further. Would be for politics, such decision would escalate into the empowerment of reprimanding women who does not observe their aurat such as singing in public, not wearing hijab, wearing short skirt and sleeveless shirts and even body hugging ware? Would eventually PAS enforce punishment for women who swim in public places?

Two and half weeks earlier, Selangor State Government introduced new ’selective and inconsistent’ law perrtaining on the issue of alcohol management and enforcement.

Self-Regulation On Sale Of Alcohol In Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Aug 7 Bernama) — The Selangor state government has decided that the sale of alcohol in the state would be guided by self-regulation on the part of the sellers in areas where its sales are prohibited to the Muslim community.

Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said, by “self-regulation” the seller could sell alcohol outside their premises if the demand for alcohol there was low.

He said, the state government would not prohibit the sale of alcohol in Selangor but that the shopkeepers were given a grace period of one month to stop the sale of aclohol to Muslims.

“We will start ’self-regulation’ in Shah Alam to see how the concept of selling alcohol could be implemented to the non-Muslims,” he told reporters after meeting representatives from the Shah Alam Municipal Council (MBSA), KK Group of Companies and 7-Eleven, here Friday.

Abdul Khalid added that 7-Eleven, as an example, had stopped selling alcohol at 10 of its outlets in Shah Alam when there was no demand for alcoholic drinks.

Having stated that, he said the draft proposal by PAS to ban the sale of alcohor was not relevant.

“We must consider several factors to maintain the balance between sellers, buyers and the needs of the community. Selangor could be a friendly business state but there is also the need to tackle social problems in the state.

“So we cannot just stop the sale of alcohol. Stopping it will not solve social problems. We do not need too many laws, but we do need to respect each others’ needs in business, culture and the needs of the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shah Alam Mayor Mazalan Md Nor said the MBSA would follow the decision made by the Menteri Besar to implement the concept of ’self-regulation’.

“The MBSA will give full cooperation to its business community following the decision by the state government and we will monitor its feedback within a month. We will focus on 17 mini markets in Section 1 to Section 24,” he said.

Chief executive officer of the KK Group of Companies, Datuk Dr Douglas KK Chai, said the decision by the Menteri Besar was fair because the company depended on the sale of alcohol.

“We will wait and see after one month if the self-regulatory concept works. It is a good step to take,” he said adding that the company had 40 mini markets in Selangor.

Law exist for many reasons, which include consistency. In that sense, God commands his subjects to be consistent in their approach to administer management of His Kingdom on earth. Are the Pakatan Rakyat leaders ready to implement and empower enforcement officers, which now include mosque officials, to be comprehensively consistent? Is the enforcement by these ‘adhoc enforcement officials’ only for the month of Ramadhan? What about other non Ramadhan months?

According to the religion od peace Islam, laws supposed to be just. “If its unjust, then it is not Islamic”.

Otherwise, one might think like anything that Pakatan Rakyat leaders do when they assume power, is all about politics and nothing else. These inconsistencies were previously seen in Kelantan and Terengganu, when PAS was briefly in power. This is a new ruling enforced by the same Pakatan Rakyat leaders who were alleged to have links if not association to the Lords of the Underworld Vices. Unless Selangor Pakatan Rakyat leaders do not practice the concept of ‘collective responsibility’.

Selangor people, be it Muslims or Non Muslims do deserve better.

Mosque officials get power to nab Muslims drinking alcohol

By IZATUN SHARI

SHAH ALAM: Mosque officials in Selangor have now been empowered to arrest Muslims drinking alcohol in public places.

Also at risk of being arrested are Muslims selling, storing and displaying alcoholic drinks for sale.

Announcing this yesterday, Selangor executive councillor Datuk Dr Hassan Mohd Ali said the mosque officials empowered to carry out the arrest were the nazir, imam, bilal and siak.

Dr Hassan, who is also the Selangor PAS commissioner, said the officials were empowered to arrest without warrant under Section 18 of the Syariah Criminal Precedure (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003.

He said the officials would be required to adhere to procedures under the enactment.

“These officials have been appointed to assist the Selangor Islamic Religious Council and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department,” he told reporters after a briefing at Shah Alam mosque here.

The briefing was for the first batch of 300 mosque officials and was conducted by Selangor assistant Syariah legal adviser Mohamed Fouzi Mokhtar.

Dr Hassan said officials from 170 mosques throughout the state would be briefed on the arrest procedure.

Explaining the procedure, Dr Hassan said those who drank in public would not be immediately arrested.

“They will be issued with a notice and they can be fined, especially those who retaliate or are uncooperative,” he said.

He added that mosque officials could not detain the alleged offenders for more than 24 hours.

“They have to be surrendered to the police or religious authorities within that period,” he said.

Dr Hassan said that if convicted of consuming alcohol in public places, an offender could be fined RM3,000 or jailed not more than two years or both under Section 18 of the Syariah Criminal (State of Selangor) Enactment 1995.

Those caught selling, displaying for sale and storing or buying alcohol, could be charged under the same section and fined RM5,000 or jailed for not more than three years or both.

*********************

The fact is that, where will the alcohol offenders be held by these mosque officials, in Dr Hassan Ali’s word “for less than 24 hours” or even a brief moment? Is this new ruling thought through at all, even the least?

*Updated 1230pm

Please read today’s Malay Mail and see how civil liberty lawyers Malik Imtiaz Sarwar and Haris Ibrahim reacted to this new Dr Hassan Ali’s ruling. Pro Pakatan Rakyat blogger Haris who was the counsel for one of Ayah Pin’s deviationist disciple was quoted that Pakatan Rakyat might not able to take over the Federal Government in the next General Elections.

Excerpts from The Malay Mail:

Lawyer Haris Ibrahim was more vocal in criticising the move by Hassan, saying even Muslims were not behind this ruling.

“If Hassan plans to push this through, I would think Pakatan Rakyat’s prospects of taking over the Federal government in the next election will get dimmer and dimmer,” said Haris when asked whether this could be seen as a national policy, if one day Pakatan Rakyat took over the Federal government as it had been planning to do.

Haris said Hassan’s move could be seen as an abandonment of a blueprint that had been agreed upon by Pas “which is not to form a Muslim State”.

“(It is) somewhat breaking a consensus that was reached when they formed Pakatan Rakyat.”

Lets see if Selangor Pakatan Rakyat can manage to even maintain half a term before it crumbles, just like their Perak cousins. Unlike Barisan Nasional which has been around since 1953, ‘Marriage of inconvenience’ between strange bedfellows don’t usual last that long.

MB Pakatan Rakyat Selangor ‘Flip-Flop’!

Residents refuse to listen to MB; temple relocation plan shelved temporarily (Updated)

MB Selangor meets Seksyen 23

SHAH ALAM: A dialogue session here between Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and Section 23 residents over the relocation of a temple turned unruly on Saturday.

This resulted in Khalid saying that the relocation of the temple in Section 19 to Section 23 would be shelved temporarily.

He, however, said the state government is looking for more suitable sites to relocate the temple.

Earlier in the morning, Khalid had a dialogue session with Section 23 residents to resolve the issue of the relocation of a century-old temple from Section 19 to Section 23.

He wanted to explain to the residents the reasons for the relocation and to find an amicable solution.

His explanation and that of the Shah Alam mayor Mazalan Md Noor fell on deaf ears as protesters and residents numbering some 300 constantly shouted and booed at them.

Also trying to explain to the unruly crowd were Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, Batu Tiga state assemblyman Rodziah Ismail, and state development agency PKNS chief Othman Omar.

The dialogue session ended at about 12.30pm without any amicable solution due to the fracas.

Khalid announced that there was no final decision on the matter yet as an agreement could not be reached at the dialogue.

The dialogue was planned when residents of Section 23 here staged a protest last Friday against the Pakatan Rakyat-led government’s decision to relocate a 150-year-old temple from Section 19 to their Malay-majority area.

The protest sparked controversy when some of the participants brought along a cow’s head and left it at the gates of the state secretariat building.

TEPUK DADA, TANYA SELERA!

Sultan Selangor tolak

More ‘Ketuanan Rakyat’ cracks: Infighting is emminent

It seems that more ‘Ketuanan Rakyat’ cracks are surfacing, between these strange bedfellows. This time, it is within the same party. PKR Vice President Azmin Ali is asking Menteri Besar Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to reshuffle the State Government Exco. In short, he telling the MB Selangor that he and his State Exco is not effective and no longer meet the expectation of the majority.

The Star has the story:

Azmin calls for reshuffle of Selangor state exco

By WANI MUTHIAH

SHAH ALAM: Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali shocked the Selangor legislative assembly Thursday by calling for a reshuffle of the exco members.

“Maybe its time for the Mentri Besar to consider an exco reshuffle for the people to be served better,” he said.

Later in the evening after the proceedings ended, Azmin told a press conference he had put forward the suggestion to Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim due to the many complaints he had received from the people.

“I suggested to the Mentri Besar to reexamine the performance of the exco members as they play important roles in realising the states policies,” he said.

Azmin said there were several inadequacies in the manner certain things were carried out in the state.

“An example would be the appointment of local council councilors recently which should have been done in a better way given that the Selangor government emphasises on good governance, democracy, human rights and rule of law,” he said.

Azmin also said he had received many complaints from key business figures in the state that there was a lot of bureaucracy when it came to gaining approvals for commercial purposes.

He added the Selangor State Economic Council (MTES) had taken a prejudicial stance by investigating and punishing instead of facilitating the business.

He said MTES must not behave like a court of law but instead forge closer ties with the business community to ensure that the state enjoyed better economic growth.

“The revenue for the state (currently) is not what we had expected,” he said adding that an example would be the expected revenue from the sale of sand and minerals was nowhere near what Khalid had projected.

He added if an exco member could not perform based on these principles there was no point in them continuing.

He said that if his suggestion was accepted, the appointment of exco members must not be based on their party or race but their ability to carry out their work efficiently.

Meanwhile, when asked if Azmin had behaved like an opposition member rather than a Pakatan Rakyat member with his outburst, Khalid said this was the special facet of the coalition.

“Pakatan Rakyat allows for the differences in opinion and issues,” he said adding that Azmin had voiced the grievances of his constituents.

“We must now review ourselves and find out how best we can serve the people better,” he said.

Khalid said he and his exco members worked very closely together and effort must be put in to further strengthen teamwork.

DAP’s Ronnie Liew and Teresa Kok were the excos in charge of the state’s local council and investment respectively.

**********************

Depsite this outright criticism is regarded a ’shock’ by the media, it actually not shocking. Azmin’s stance of being critical to the Selangor administration has an ulterior motive. However, professionally it is not that apparent. However, reading it between the lines show it all.

This is how The Star reported the criticism:

Azmin Ali shocks Selangor assembly with suggestion

SHAH ALAM: Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali has called for a reshuffle of the state executive council because of complaints of them being bureaucratic.

He said he had received many complaints from key business figures in the state who said there was a lot of bureaucracy when it came to gaining approvals for commercial purposes.

“Maybe it’s time for the Mentri Besar to consider an exco reshuffle for the people to be served better,” he said at the Selangor State Assembly yesterday.

Azmin told a press conference later that he had put forward the suggestion to Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim due to the complaints he had received from the people.

He said the Selangor State Economic Council had taken a “prejudicial stance by investigating and punishing” instead of facilitating businesses.

“The council must not behave like a court of law but instead forge closer ties with the business community to ensure that the state enjoyed better economic growth.

“The revenue for the state is not what we had expected,” he said.

He added that the expected revenue from the sale of sand and minerals was nowhere near what Khalid had projected.

Azmin said in the event his suggestions were accepted, the appointment of the exco members must not be based on which party or race they represented but their ability to carry out their work efficiently.

This open criticism only illustrate there exist an ‘infighting’ within the PKR top echelon, especially with regards to the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat strange bedfellows government. It is widely known that Azmin himself was an aspirant and actively vying for the Selangor Chief Executive post upon the surprise success of the 8 March 2009 12th General Elections. However, PKR Adviser party-less Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim then decided that ADUN Ijok Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim be made to the top position. Of course, the convenient excuse of Khalid was a much respected corporate leader for the job of the most wealthiest state in country superceeded the usual party hierrachy practices.

It is believed that despite Azmin’s close “personal relationship” with former accused-sodomist Anwar Ibrahim, latter’s wife PKR President Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was very envious of the relationship. Of course, Anwar had to offer the top post to Khalid, who was actually Wan Azizah’s choice for the CEO seat of the wealthiest state in the Federation of Malaysia. This is because Wan Azizah has still unresolved issues on Anwar’s “personal relationship” with Azmin and previous “association” with Azmin’s wife, Shamsidar Tahar.

Sources within strongly believed on how Azmin was ‘playing the master mind’ role on the ADUN Bukit Lanjan Elizabeth Wong’s personal problem, which drew nationwide attention. Wong was said to be personally close to Khalid and a sex scandal of such nature was thought to be the ‘push factor’ for the reshuffling of the Selangor State Exco, which include the MB. There are some who were willing bet that the sex scandal would led to the resignation of Wong and eventually Khalid. Azmin was aspiring ascend as a replacement. However, despite Khalid stating otherwise power-of-abuse-convict Anwar decided to hold status quo and Wong was back as the Exco in charge tourism, consumer affairs and environment.

Azmin’s gambit had failed.

It is expected more to come. Soon, this is ‘infighting’ will be contageous to the other Ketuanan Rakyat partners within Selangor. The Kedah problem will soon escalate to Selangor. That is when unexpectedly strange bedfellows ‘unwillingly’ get married, because of common obejctive to topple the Barisan Nasional Government was met in a fluke attempt. It was never about serving the people or interest of the state.

Khalid forgotten how much he bought Guthrie?

Here is more on the Ijok ADUN wannabe.

Something is amiss here. It seems Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, former Generalissimo Guthrie claimed that he bought Guthrie’s shares from PNB back in 1994 at market prices. This was reported by The Star (www.thestar.com.my ) :

Nation

I bought shares at market price, says Khalid

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said his acquisition of shares in Guthrie Bhd was a commercial transaction.

“The idea of obtaining the share options was first suggested to me by the late Tun Ismail Ali in 1994 and it was agreed by the chairman of Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra (the holding company of PNB), then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“I acquired them at market price and it was a commercial transaction, not free or discounted shares. This matter remains in court and any further discussion should happen during the court proceedings,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

Khalid, also a former Permodalan Nasional Bhd chief executive officer, was commenting on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s claim on Wednesday that Khalid’s animosity for Barisan Nasional was because he had failed to acquire a 20% stake in Guthrie.

Khalid said he planned to sue Najib and those who had made false and unfounded statements about him.

“I have instructed my lawyers to prepare a lawsuit against Najib and all others who have been making false and unfounded statements. It is my intention to be transparent and straightforward in all my dealings.”

In a separate statement, Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was instructed by Dr Mahathir in 1994 to write a letter to allow Khalid to purchase Guthrie shares at market price.

“I have known Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim for many years. During my time as Finance Minister, he approached me on many occasions for many issues, but never once had he ever asked for shares or allocation for his own benefit.

“I was and still am very impressed by Khalid’s honesty, integrity and his concern for the common people by introducing the Amanah Saham Nasional and Amanah Saham Bumiputra schemes in the country,” Anwar said.

KUALA LUMPUR — The chief executive of Malaysia’s huge national investment corporation will leave his post with a hefty golden handshake and the promise of more gains to come.

Permodalan Nasional Bhd. said Thursday that Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will acquire up to 20% of its publicly listed subsidiary, Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd., when he leaves his post as PNB chief executive on July 1 to become Guthrie’s deputy chairman and chief executive officer. Datuk Khalid will initially buy a 5% stake in Guthrie, or 50 million shares, for 125 million ringgit ($48.1 million), or 2.50 ringgit a share. He will also have a three-year option to buy an additional 15% of Guthrie at a price to be determined.

Guthrie stock closed Thursday at 3.96 ringgit per share, up 24 sen. That means Datuk Khalid will enjoy an immediate windfall, on paper, of about 73 million ringgit. But Datuk Khalid said at a press conference that he intends to hold his Guthrie stake as a long-term investment, and plans to expand the company. “PNB wants Guthrie to be a corporation that could challenge . . . other multinationals in Malaysia and elsewhere,” he said.

Guthrie, one of Malaysia’s biggest plantation concerns, last year made a pretax profit of 101.4 million ringgit on revenue of 1.05 billion ringgit. The company currently is 90% owned by PNB, a government-created investment holding company that manages a portfolio valued at about 20 billion ringgit, the bulk of it in the form of unit trusts owned by more than three million Malaysians.

Datuk Khalid will be replaced at PNB by Mohamed Hilmey Mohamed Taib, a 41-year-old former banker and accountant who is currently PNB’s deputy chief executive.

Datuk Khalid, a 47-year-old former university lecturer and merchant banker, joined PNB in 1978 and helped direct the then-fledgling investment company’s growth into a mammoth stock-holding concern for Malaysia’s “bumiputra,” or indigenous, citizens. He also helped create a unittrust scheme whereby bumiputras, mainly ethnic Malays, can purchase shares in PNB’s underlying stock portfolio and reap hefty dividends. PNB’s after-tax profit rose 17.5% in 1993 to 736.9 million ringgit.

PNB made an international splash in 1981, when it wrested control of Guthrie from the company’s British shareholders through a one-billion-ringgit “dawn raid” on the London Stock Exchange. PNB’s other long-term investments include stakes in Malaysian Mining Corp. Bhd. and UMW Holdings Bhd.

Although Datuk Khalid’s shift to Guthrie was expected, some Malaysian securities analysts were surprised at the heavily discounted 2.50 ringgit price for Guthrie shares that PNB offered its departing chief. When PNB floated 10% of Guthrie on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 1989, the company pledged to offer an additional 20% of Guthrie’s equity to the public. The prospective sale to Datuk Khalid fulfills that promise, but it means PNB is passing up the chance to seek a higher price for Guthrie stock from other bidders or the public.

“It really looks like PNB is paying (Datuk Khalid) off,” says one securities research manager, who believes Guthrie stock would sell readily. “They’re forgoing a higher price on the market by offering such a discount.”

Datuk Khalid says he regards the arrangement “not as a monetary reward, but as an opportunity because the risk is being taken by me.” He adds that he is financing the acquisition largely through bank borrowings secured by the Guthrie shares. “I’ve not taken this much liability in my career,” he says. “None of my family assets could cover this liability.”

The PNB chief adds that the arrangement has the support of PNB chairman Ismail Mohamed Ali, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Dr. Mahathir and Datuk Anwar head Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra, a government-backed foundation that is PNB’s ultimate holding company.

Datuk Khalid says he decided to leave his PNB post for the challenge of owning and running a large company. “A portfolio manager is very different from an operational manager,” he says, though he declines to outline his plans for Guthrie. The company’s earnings have grown only slowly in recent years and Guthrie has begun seeking ways to expand into fields such as property development.

Mr. Hilmey, who replaces Datuk Khalid at PNB, has spent 13 years with the investment company, serving as assistant general manager of one of PNB’s unit trusts and general manager for finance before becoming deputy chief executive in 1990.

****************

There are clear contradictions on the story, although it is about the same subject. Maybe Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim “forgotten” what actually happened. He should be reminded what was said and transpired then, before wanting to sue the Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak for telling the story, as how it happened. Of course, people do their research well, in these sort of campaigns.

Khalid already did a blunder on Wednesday night campaigning in Ladang Tuan Me when he coyly asked the audience to vote for the BN candidate and waved as the crowd cheered. Now this? The inconsistency. Maybe if Khalid keeps getting his facts wrong (even that concerns himself), then most probably he is not right man for Ijok. Or what is it again? BN candidate? :)

Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government now attempting to lie?

Yesterday morning’s disgracefully disastrous ‘town hall meeting’ to explain and pacify, if not resolve the anger of multi-ethnic residents of Section 23 Shah Alam did not end just there. Today, Selangor State Exco Dr. Xavier Jayakumar issued a statement claiming possibility of ‘outsiders’ involvement in the ‘town hall meeting’, which ended in Selangor Pakatan Rakyat MB making a ‘Flip-Flop’ decision of ‘temprorarily suspending’ the relocation of the temple.

Rocky has the story on his second blog.

jayakumar

Did Dr. Jayakumar lie, in his sordid attempt to save face of the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government, which lately has been plagued by all sort of scandals, from ‘Korban cows’, ‘Eli Wong affair’, DAP Excos and representatives in corrupt practices and linkages to Vices, ‘Flip-Flop’ policy on alcohol and finally ‘zakat for development’ (which inevitably made HRH Sultan murka)?

The fact is that, at the ‘town hall meeting’, only residents with official inivitation letters issued by MBSA are allowed to attend. Apart from some 40 Hindu Sanggam representatives (who are deemed stakeholders to the temple relocation proposal) and journalists, even the Police were not allowed in and turned away. Security was provided by MBSA security personnel and PAS’s own unit amal.

If there were ‘oustiders’ in the ‘town hall meeting’, which took place at the MBSA Banquet Hall, then it must be people who are non residents and not individually issued invitation letters, which are the Hindu Sanggam people. The fact also is that specific individual invitations were issued because Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government wanted to ensure only stakeholders attend the ‘town hall meeting’. How could MBSA security failed in their vetting, when those attending need to show their official invitation letters before they are allowed into the hall?

We seriously hope Pakatan Rakyat did not do this (failure to control the expected angry crowd) on purpose.

Regardless, there were video recordings and photos of the humilaitingly failed ‘town hall metting’. Why don’t the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government go through all the materials and make a Police report on individuals who are not supposed to be there but attended and caused disturbance?

The Ketuanan Rakyat Conspiracy?

It seems the Ketuanan Pakatan Rakyat Government scandals in Selangor have a slightly more complicated twist than what meets the eye. It is no longer about crack within the Ketuanan Pakatan Rakyat, but more of a story of conspiracy.

This is about a high ranking PKR official and long time party-less Opposition Leader’s political secretary’s intention to ascend as the Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) if the Opposition takes over as the state government. However, former abuse-of-power convict Anwar chose former Guthrie Executive Chairman Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim instead.

The young and powerful PKR leader have been said to be upset over this for some time. As commonly known, he has had many falling outs with Khalid and they are no longer on speaking terms. In the party hierarchy, he holds a more prominent position compared to Khalid. It is also said that he is no longer on speaking terms with PKR President Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Apparently, it seems because he feels sidelined in the party leadership. On top of that, rumour has it that this is about his wife. Her mere presence is said to be bothering Wan Azizah as the woman was said to be involved with Anwar at one point of time.

Anyway, the now infamous boyfriend of Selangor Exco Elizabeth Wong, who abruptly resigned recently in the height of the photo controversy, Hilmi Malek is the PKR high ranking official’s boy. Whereas Elizabeth herself was Wan Azizah’s PA. There is a strong suspicion within PKR that this aspiring Deputy President may have had a role in leaking the photos because this would be a blow to Wan Azizah. It seems soon after the pictures were leaked, inferences were made from within PKR that Tan Sri Khalid may have had more than just a passing relationship with Elizabeth Wong.

More importantly, it might be a fatal blow to MB Khalid and the PKR strategist would have a strong chance assuming the seat of the Chief Executive of the wealthiest state in the Federation. The leakage of the 46 cows for Hari Raya Aidil Adha slaughter and the personal Lexus maintenance bill was also linked to his camp within PKR.

In any case, there is still some mystery looming about Eli Wong’s case. If there were just those photos of her asleep naked (which is not really “exciting”, unlike former Health Minister Chua Soi Lek late 2007) why is she resigning? They are after all photos taken without her knowledge.

The most probable answer is, rumour has it that she is resigning because there are still more photos that may surface. There is also rumours sprawling around, it seems, a 35 minute video clip. However, contents are not certain.

Rumour has it that is most probably why she is resigning.

As they might always say, “There are honours amongst thieves”. Then again, this is not about common thieves. They are simply people who sordidly distrust each other. The back-stabbing is very apparent. This PKR story within Selangor Ketuanan Pakatan Rakyat has not even taken into consideration about how PAS is very dissatisfied with the unholy coalition. Not to mention PAS’s champion of intellectualism and morality Dr. Hassan Ali’s uneasiness sitting on the same state Cabinet with the alleged DAP champion of brothels.

Are we surprise with this conspiracy theory? Then again, that was Anwar’s line of defense during his abuse-of-power and sodomy trial, all the way. As they, “What goes around, comes around”. Anwar, is tasting his own bitter medicine, again.

PKR had been always coveniently blaming BN, especially UMNO on almost every scandals they have to face. Most probably, this one is about a conspiracy within PKR to topple one of their own. It is widely known Anwar no longer can control Khalid. Khalid has been said to be ‘listening’ to DAP within the coalition a little bit too much. If and when Anwar were to ask Khalid to step down in the overwhelming controversy and sensation created by the MACC investigation, it proves the strong point that it was an ‘inside job’ all along. That is, conspiracy within.

Percaturan politik disebalik kedegilan Khalid dan Rodziah

Wednesday, September 09 @ 04:04:25 MYT

Diulang sekali lagi, memang mereka orang UMNO.

Khalid Samad Guna Ayat Quran Pertahankan Kuil Hindu

"AYAT MU AYAT SEKERAT
AYAT MU TAK CUKUP SIFAT
AYAT MU BOLEH BUAT ORANG SESAT "
rangkap lagu kumpulan spaider, tajuknya Lauk ku cukup masin.

Pelik, kenapa Khalid Gereja hanya memetik sebahagian kecil ayat 8 surah al-Maidah.

"LAUK KU DAH CUKUP-CUKUP MASIN
LAUK KU CUKUP MASIN
TAK PERLU ENGKAU TAMBAH GARAM..."
