DAP POLICE ?
DAP assemblyman 's crime prevention unit cautioned by copsPolice have warned those who become members of a crime prevention patrolling unit set up by Komtar assemblyman Ng Wei Aik not to do anything against the law.
Northeast District police chief Assistant Commissioner Azam Abdul Hamid said police here had received information on the unit set up by the DAP assemblyman.
He said based on investigations, the `Polis DAP` motorcycle unit was fully equipped with walkie-talkies but it was not recognised by the Royal Malaysian Police.
Azam said until today, there has been no application or discussion held with the police to find out the kind of action and operation methods used in their patrolling.
"We do not want them to do anything against the law. They do not have the power to check or detain any individuals.
"They did not bother to discuss with us and just went ahead to set up this unit," he said.
Azam said the unit, which could be classified as an illegal unit, was established by political leaders with certain agendas.
"They may have established it with good intentions but this is not the way to do things," he said, adding that police will monitor the unit closely as any wrongdoing could result in violation of the law.
"I wish to emphasise that the recognised crime prevention patrol units are the Volunteer Corps (Rela), the Village Development and Security Committee and the community police set up by the police," he said.
tunku : if they are really sincere, they should have joined Rela or rukun tetangga. with the word Polis Dap, they have insulted the PDRM. how can dap form a police force ? police should take action on them. today they formed polis dap for patrolling, tomorrow they will form army(askar dap) to take over the country.PDRM be alert.join rela or rukun tetangga if you really want to help.
