Hospital: Anwar not stripped naked
PKR de facto chief Anwar Ibrahim was not made to strip naked, Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) director Dr Zaininah Mohd Zain clarified today. “At no time throughout the examination was his decency violated,” Zaininah said in a statement to Bernama.
On Thursday, Anwar had claimed that he was “striped naked and measured” while undergoing medical examination after police had recorded his statements.Anwar had never protested against his treatment at the hospital but had refused to provide his blood sample during the medical examination over fears that the blood would be tampered with.
Written consent obtainedZaininah said that prior to the examination, two specialists had explained in detail the examination procedures to Anwar in the presence of his lawyer.
“Only after having obtained his written consent did they proceed with the examination,” she said.
After signing the necessary documents, Anwar was examined by two specialists whom Zaininah described had “adhered to proper clinical procedures during the whole course of the examination”.
Anwar underwent medical examinations on Wednesday evening as part of ongoing police investigations into sodomy allegations made by the former deputy premier’s aide Saiful Bukhary Azlan.
