Malaysia's top cop today denied online
news portal Free Malaysia Today's report quoting him as saying those involved in the attempted murder of MyWatch chairman R. Sri Sanjeevan were his own friends.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) said he did not touch on the subject at all in a press conference in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Khalid said in his Twitter microblogging account that he never said Sanjeevan's friends were involved in the attempted murder and that FMT's report was untrue.
"Before jumping to conclusions, let police investigate the matter thoroughly until we have collected all the facts about the case," he added.
However, Khalid said he understood the public's fears and worries about the recent spate of murder cases.
"A lot of people are worried and the police are doing their best to ensure everyone's safety," he said, urging the public to cooperate in stamping out crime.
FMT reported on Tuesday that Khalid said the suspects involved in Sanjeevan's attempted murder were believed to be his own friends.
Khalid was reported as saying the suspects responsible were not hired killers but the victim's own friends.
