1. Much has been said in regards to the Kelantan Oil Royalty saga in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (JDA).

2. The issue has been politicized to the hilt by irresponsible politician for their own selfish agenda.

3. So what is the issue? Well the core issue is that PAS (together with its partners DAP and PKR) accused the Federal Government of the day of not giving to Kelantan its rights to claim for oil royalty.

4. The Federal Government on the other hand maintained that they are giving to Kelantan money from the oil extraction in a goodwill payment (wang ehsan) but the payment is not a right.

5. So who is right here? Who spin the issue? Well God has given us all brain to think and we should use it. So let us investigate existing proof to show who is right and who is wrong.

6. The oil extraction in Kelantan is located 150 km (93 miles/batu) away from the shores of Kelantan.

7. So how much exactly does Petronas received, the Federal Government received and the state government received?

8. What are the rules governing how much these 3 entities will get?

9. In order to answer this we will listen to a video by former Petronas Chairman who also happens to be a Kelantanese who is very popular in the Pakatan Rakyat camp at the moment, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

“…di bawah peraturan sekarang, Kerajaan Negeri berhak menerima 12% daripada keuntungan minyak, ini sebagai royalti kepada Kerajaan (Negeri) yang mempunyai minyak di kawasannya sehinggalah 3 batu (4.8 miles/7.7 KM) daripada pantai. Luar daripada itu (after 7.7. KM), Kerajaan Pusat yang akan mendapat royalti pula sebanyak 10% sehinggalah 10 batu (10 miles/16 KM). Lebih daripada 10 batu (10 miles/16 KM), Kerajaan Pusat yang akan mendapat royalti daripada keuntungan minyak sebanyak 8%…Itu sahaja yang didapati oleh Kerajaan Pusat dan Negeri….”

11. It is clear to all and sundry that the State Government will only received 12% oil royalty IF the oil is found up to 7.7. KM from the shores of the state. If oil is found outside of the 7.7 KM range, then the State Government will not get a penny.

12. Now, the Kelantan oil royalty which is being disputed right now is located 150 KM (93 miles/batu) from the shores of Kelantan.

13. How can PAS say they have a rightful claim on that oil royalty? This is a proof that PAS is deliberately manipulating the issue.

14. PAS think just because Kelantanese and Malaysian are lazy when it comes to reading, they can simply spin the issue. They know 90% of Malaysian will not go and read the Akta Petroliam Negara. That is the mentality of our people.

15. Earlier today in the Dewan Negara, when PM Najib was giving his speech in regards to this issue, the Kubang Kerian MP Salahuddin Ayub interrupt and accused the federal government of lying and spinning the issue.

16. PM Najib just replied by saying :

“You’re trying to politicise the issue. Tak habis-habis dengan politik (never-ending politics).”

17. Now all of us know who is spinning and trying to politicize the issue.

18. Is Kelantan an oil producing state? Yes and nobody is denying that fact.

19. Does Kelantan have a right to the oil royalty which is located 150 KM away from its shores? No.

20. Therefore PM Najib was telling the truth when he said Kelantan State Government had no rights whatsoever to the oil royalty.

21. In fact although Kelantan is not entitled to the money (from oil extraction 150 KM from the shores), the Federal Government STILL give money to the Kelantan state government in a form of goodwill payment (wang ehsan).

22. Yet they still want to accused the Federal Government of misleading, lying and zalim?

23. The issue is simple. But because of people do not like to read and think critically, we let ourselves be played for a fool by politician.

24. To Salahuddin Ayub, my question is instead of spinning the issue, why not you explained to us WHY until now, the guy whose head was allegedly attacked by parang still have not made a police report (the infamous Zorro Drama of Bagan Pinang)?
