Saiful's family urges Anwar to cooperate with police

Saiful's family urges Anwar to cooperate with police

By Adib Zalkapli

LUMPUR, July 21 -

The father of Mohd Saiful Bukhari said today his son was telling the truth and challenged Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to give a sample for DNA test.

The family of Anwar's estranged male aide is now angry with the opposition leader for delaying and refusing to cooperate with the police and have joined the government in urging him to cooperate in the matter, including providing a DNA sample for testing.

"My son has shown courage because the truth is on his side. And without hesitation he has given full cooperation in assisting the police in the investigation, unlike his former employer who is full of excuses, " Azlan Mohd Lazim said in a statement read out by Mohd Saiful Bukhari's lawyer Zamri Idrus at a news conference here.

Anwar has denied the 23-year-old's accusation, saying it is politically motivated and a repeat of events 10 years ago that cost him a stab at succeeding Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister. Saiful's family called the media saying Anwar's uncooperative attitude was hindering investigations into his sodomy report last June.

"My family and I urge the individual involved to give full cooperation to the police investigation," Azlan added.

When asked, Zamri said Saiful's father and the whole family hope that Anwar would give fresh DNA samples to the police, echoing calls made by government leaders including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, within the last few days.

He said Saiful's father also insisted that his son was willing to swear on the Quran at any mosque before any respected religious scholars at any time when the investigation is completed.

Saiful's maternal uncle, who wished to be known as Uncle Pet, is also hoping for divine
intervention.

"As Muslim, I leave it to God, and God will reveal the truth," he said at the same press conference. He was there on behalf on Saiful's father.

Asked on Saiful's whereabouts, Zamri who last met his client a few days ago said: "He is in a safe place. He is under police protection."

He clarified that his client was not under police custody, adding the university dropout was in good health despite being traumatised by the whole ordeal.

Zamri was appointed early this month to defend Saiful against Anwar's civil suit and to hold a watching brief if the matter comes to trial.

The lawyer also denied allegations that his client was used by certain government leaders to frame Anwar.

kzso - will and can anwar accept the challenge?

even if u lose all your material possessions, it is still not a bad thing bcos in the lives after this, u will not need them. there is not a single object in this world, whether in human form or things that you cherish dearly can be taken with us when we leave. forget about leaving a name here and thinking that the worlds above or below care about who you are and what you were known for when you go to the other side.

the lessons are clear. we reap what we sow. if there isn't pnnishment by our own conscience, there is no need to do good in this world bcos it wouldnt make any difference then.

that is why the lessons are here for us to learn. not to kill, lie, steal, indulge in intoxicants, etc.

do you think if anwar goes away, there will not be another anwar in the near future? this is the golden age, a lot of good things will happen if humans start to act like humans. in a year or two, the world will experience extreme changes and if you still behave the way you way, being worried about losing your prized possessions by engaging in spreading untruths, there will be a time you will regret this.

it is clear that this is all a set up. anyone who can think and feel will know this. dna is dna, and will not perish thru the course of time. why need a fresh one?
