HMMMM.... If it wasn't Anwar..

If it wasn't Anwar...

Tian Chua's tweet minutes after the Court of Appeal sentenced Anwar Ibrahim to a 5-year imprisonment: Najib sent Anwar to 5-year imprisonment. The people will bring down Najib in 5 months. That I promise you!

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's plan to win the Kajang by-election and become the Selangor menteri besar was scuttled by the Court of Appeal that overturned his acquittal for sodomy, and sentenced him to five years jail.

There was an uproar in the courtroom when the sentence was read out, overturning the High Court's earlier decision to acquit him for sodomy.

The 28-year-old Saiful, a former aide to Anwar, had accused him of sodomising him in 2008 and even swore on the Quran that he was telling the truth.

It was an unanimous decision.

With this verdict, Anwar's political career looks to have ended. He will be disqualified from all his political positions and will not be the PKR candidate in the Kajang by-election to be held later this month.

The Opposition and their sympathisers condemned the decision, calling it the dark day of justice in Malaysia.

Well, I am not in the position to judge Anwar in his sodomy case. I had never written anything about the case because I chose to stay away from matters pertaining to dignity. Only he, Saiful and God know the actual.

However, my focus in on those who labelled our judiciary as bias, corrupt and 'fully-controlled by Putrajaya'. Hence, I would like to ask people like Ambiga, Rafizi, Khalid Ibrahim, Karpal, Lim Kit Siang, Marina Mahathir, Hadi Awang and the rest on a simple matter:

If it wasn't Anwar, will they fight and defend his life?

If it wasn't Anwar, will they throw everything to salvage his politics?

If it wasn't Anwar, will they chant that 'judiciary sucks' slogan all over the world?

If it wasn't Anwar, will they take to the street in protest?

If it wasn't Anwar, will they accuse Putrajaya of holding the strings to the judiciary?

There were many other similar cases involving ordinary citizen - rape, sodomy, incest, murder, drugs, etc and sentences were passed without anybody accusing the court as being bias or being bought over. They were sent to jail, some hanged and others had to become inmate for a long, long time or life-sentenced.

Have we ever heard of these people coming to their aid?
