MYSTERY: Anwar fear Saiful say "liwat lagi"?

Sources close to Latheefa Koya say that Anwar Ibrahim's legal team is deeply divided over the handling of Sodomy 2. Anwar is giving Karpal close instructions on a day to day basis about how to conduct the trial. And he is looking at a purely political angle as to create maximum sympathy for him outside the country.

The same source said that Karpal was instructed by Anwar to openly accuse the judge of lying, hoping that this will provoke the judge to cite Karpal for contempt of court. In such case Anwar would announce in the Washington Post that this is a kangaroo court and that he is a victim of another conspiracy.

Unfortunately for Anwar the judge did not get angry and kept very cool in court. The judge has also defused the tension provoked by Karpal by adjourning the case to February 18th.

Raja Aziz Addruse, Sivarasa and the other lawyers have a serious fallout with Karpal over the attack against the Utusan Malaysia. It is a very weak and legally inept angle. Karpal's objections will be dismissed by the judge.

After one week of the trial. Karpal still has no line of attack to cross examine Saiful.

Anwar has also tied Karpal's hands by insisting that Karpal object to any mention of the words 'liwat lagi.' He does not want the public trial to hear Saiful giving evidence like the other time when Anwar sodomised Saiful (in Tokyo, Hong Kong).

In a sodomy case, like in a rape case, the defense lawyer will try his best to discredit the character of the victim. If the defense lawyer can prove that the 'victim' was used to being sodomised it will weaken the case against the accused person.

And if the defense lawyer can prove that the victim and the accused had sexual intercourse before then it will be very difficult to convict the accused person of sodomising the victim against the victim's wishes.

If Karpal can show the court that Saiful had been sodomised by Anwar before then the Court may be very lenient on Anwar. But since Anwar does not want any mention of 'liwat lagi' this makes Karpal's task more difficult.

The other reason why Karpal is facing much difficulty to crack Saiful's testimony is because Saiful is telling the truth.

They do not have any other choice except to waste time in court and cause delays. Karpal calling the judge a liar in open court is one of the methods. It only causes unnecessary delays in Court.

But the outcome of this trial looks certain - Anwar did sodomise Saiful.

There is another reason that is shaping up quite fast. Anwar's supporters have fabricated an interview with Saiful and posted it on the Net. The fake interview casts doubt on Saiful and presents him as part of a conspiracy.
