Sultan debunks Anwar; another apology... new MB on Tuesday
The new Selangor Mentri Besar will be sworn in next Tuesday at 10am in Istana Alam Shah, Palace sources have revealed. Invitation cards to the swearing-in ceremony have been sent out to state leaders, elected representatives and local dignitaries.
Earlier today, the Sultan of Selangor has debunked Anwar Ibrahim's statement that submitting only one name as a candidate for the mentri besar post has been a practice since 1957.
And he is Anwar's explanation and apology:
"Merujuk kenyataan Y. Bhg. Dato’ Hj. Mohamad Munir Bin Bani dan Istana Selangor mengenai soal amalan (convention), ingin saya jelaskan: saya hanya menyatakan apa yang berlaku dalam pengetahuan saya terutama sepanjang saya dalam kerajaan UMNO-BN, sejak 1982 hingga 1998. Sekiranya ada kekhilafan berlaku, saya mohon ampun dari DYMM Sultan Selangor."
In a statement, the Selangor palace denied the statement made by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that submitting only one name to the palace for Menteri Besar position has been practised since 1957.
The Sultan of Selangor's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani in a statement said Anwar's statement was inaccurate and misleading to the people.
But... okay laaaaa!

The Sultan of Selangor's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani in a statement said Anwar's statement was inaccurate and misleading to the people.
"I have been instructed by the Sultan of Selangor to give an explanation to deny the statement by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in local newspapers that the practice of sending only one Menteri Besar candidate has been practsced since the country achieved its independence in 1957," he said.
Mohamad Munir said during the tenure of Barisan Nasional government, the Prime Minister would seek the Sultan's audience and discuss possible candidates for the Menteri besar post.
Eventually, after the discussion, the sultan would choose one name for the post.
"After the fall of Barisan Nasional in Selangor in 2008, the Sultan requested for leaders in Pakatan Rakyat parties to discuss the possible candidates for the Menteri Besar post.Didn't he take any effort to flip through the history pages? At least Rafizi could have assisted him!
"The Sultan, through his private secretary had issued a letter to party leaders in Pakatan to submit two names to the palace.
"However at that point, Pakatan Rakyat had submitted only one name, which was Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim who was later selected for the position.
"Khalid fulfilled to the criteria set by the state government and the palace, in accordance to the state constitution 1959 and for that reason the Sultan agreed to appoint him as the Menteri Besar," he said.
But... okay laaaaa!
