PKR wins dirtiest by-election
Congrats to Wan Azizah for retaining PKR state seat in Kajang and bravo to Chew Mei Fun for staging a good fight.
Chew managed to reduce the Opposition's majority by about a thousand votes, a good sign that MCA is 'making a positive comeback'; and the Chinese support increased significantly for Barisan Nasional to makepreparation for the 14th general election in three or four years from now.
PKR president Azizah won on sympathy. With hubbyAnwar Ibrahim already sentenced to a 5-year imprisonment for sodomy, Kajang voters rallied behind her but had Anwar contested, the majority for PKR would have gone up.
MCA deserves some credit for pitting Chew (its vice president) against heavyweight Azizah. Nobody placed any bet for BN to win but it was a good ground for the Chinese party to re-position itself in BN and re-joining the Cabinet.
I chose to stay away from Kajang by-election. Its the 'filthiest and dirtiest' political game ever staged by opposition Pakatan Rakyat.
When Lee Chin Cheh announced his resignation as Kajang assemblyman two months ago, I was hoping BN would not contest and took part in the by-election. A win or defeat would mean nothing except for boosting MCA and BN's image.
However, we got just that while Pakatan Rakyat will be remembered as the party that 'cheated on the rakyat'.
O-oh... Let's wait for the next few days for Selangor Mentri Besar Khalid Ibrahim's fate... hopefully he stays!
