[great article! read it!!] ... THE VENGEANCE OF AN EX-SOSMA PRISONER
By Matthias Chang – Future Fast-Forward
Part 1 - Evil "The Darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain neutrality in times of moral crisis." In prison, there is an abundance of time. Time to think.
Time to meditate.
Time to analyse and time to reason.
But, more importantly, time to strengthen one’s faith in God Almighty.
A recurring subject that exercised my mind during my imprisonment was EVIL, how we are constantly struggling against all forms of evil. Never before have I been so pre-occupied with Evil. EVIL has been defined as profound immorality and wickedness.
That was how my thought process began, enquiring howprofound immorality and wickedness emerge within our midst. And it was during my hunger strike that my mind was most engrossed on this subject, a subtle reminder that unless I understand and address EVIL, I may not be able to overcome the severity and hardship of my imprisonment.
EVIL, profound immorality and wickedness, does not manifest itself suddenly taking one and all by surprise. It emerges surreptitiously, rearing its ugly head, creeping out to test the surroundings. When it encounters indifference, neglect and tolerance it becomes bolder. It then deploys its propaganda tools of rationalisation, falsehoods and political correctness – the end justifies the means. Any residual resistance would be crushed by intimidation, isolation and abuse.

If there is a word that best explains how EVIL emerges unimpeded, it is indifference! When evil emerges and men and women do nothing to prevent its emergence, evil triumphs!
Martin Luther King observed that: "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it… The greatest tragedy is not the brutality of the evil people, but rather the silence of the good people. "

He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it… The greatest tragedy is not the brutality of the evil people, but rather the silence of the good people. "
Edmund Burke warned that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
In the West, the proverb "Hear no evil, See no evil and Speak no evil" is best illustrated by the three monkeys and is taken to mean a lack of moral responsibility on the part of people who refuse to acknowledge impropriety, looking the other way or feigning ignorance.
The above observations apply to tyranny, for tyranny is but the handmaiden of evil.
The longevity of tyrants is determined by the tolerance of those who have been oppressed and their willingness to endure the sufferings imposed.
Evil and tyranny have descended on Malaysia, gutting every major institution of our civil society – Parliament, the Attorney-General Chambers, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Bank Negara (the Central Bank), the Police Force etc. in the wanton abuse of police and prosecutorial powers by the Najib regime.

I admit readily that I share some responsibility for the emergence of this EVIL in Malaysia as I had campaigned for the election of the Barisan Nasional government in the 13thGeneral Election in 2013.
If, it is any consolation to my fellow citizens, when it became clear that the Najib regime was EVIL to its very core, I took immediate steps to oppose the EVIL and was incarcerated for doing so when I was arrested, charged and imprisoned as a "Terrorist" on the trumped up charge of attempting to sabotage the country’s banking and financial institutions pursuant to section 124L of the Penal Code in conjunction with the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).
I had accompanied my client to lodge Police Reports in London (England), Lyons (France) and to visit the office of the Attorney-General of Switzerland to facilitate investigations as a result of the exposé by both domestic and international media that money-laundering in the US$ Billions have been committed by a government owned company, 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and the admission by the Prime Minister that he had received RM2.6 Billion in his personal bank account.
The activities of my client were a follow-up on the Police Report which he had made in December, 2014 in Malaysia. At all material times, there were on-going investigations by the Auditor-General of Malaysia into the affairs of 1MDB, the Parliament Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Commercial Crime Unit of the Police Force, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Bank Negara (the Central Bank). There was also established a Task Force to coordinate the said investigations.
However, the said investigations were scuttled when key senior officers of Bank Negara, MACC and the Attorney-General office were arrested and four members of the PAC (members of UMNO, the backbone of the ruling coalition) was "promoted" to Deputy Ministers by the Prime Minister. The Deputy Prime Minister and another minister were unceremoniously sacked for asking too many questions on the 1MDB financial scandal. The then Attorney-General’s contract of employment was terminated allegedly on medical grounds. Many critics of the regime have since been charged for sedition for commenting on the above issues.
Tun Mahathir Mohamad, the fourth Prime Minister is under investigations and has been interrogated by the same police officers who interrogated my client and I and who subsequently arrested and imprisoned us in the Dang Wangi police station – Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) K. Muniandy and ASP Chay from D5, Bukit Aman (the Police HQ).

I was released on bail by the High Court on the 18th November, 2015 on the grounds that the detention provisions (i.e. no bail allowed) under SOSMA did not apply to the Indictment (that the mere visitation of police stations to lodge police reports amounts to an attempt to sabotage the banking and financial institutions of Malaysia) and that the said detention provisions were contrary to Article 149 of the Federal Constitution, the supreme law of the country.
However, the prosecution has lodged an appeal to the Court of Appeal on a Certificate of Urgency to reverse the decision of the High Court on the grounds that my release on bail constitutes a threat to the security of the country.
This is the perverse logic of the Najib regime. An attorney in the discharge of his professional duty in accompanying his client to ensure compliance of foreign countries’ criminal procedures in the lodging of police reports is presumed to be a terrorist and therefore a threat to the security of Malaysia.

I have prior to my incarceration on 8th October 2015 posted numerous articles in my website – www.futurefastforward.com giving a detail history of the financial scandals and how the regime has subverted the law and abused its powers to subvert the truth. I have no wish to repeat myself in this article.
Part 2 – The UMNO Oligarchy You might wonder how in the world could the regime get away with this atrocity given that we have a very vocal Opposition, NGOs, Human Rights Organisations etc?
Simple!
Money, lots of money to grease the entire political machinery.
UMNO is not just a political party but a huge monstrous financial oligarchy. Since 2009, UMNO has stealthily amassed a US$ multi-billion political war chest. UMNO tentacles reach all levels of civil society and have a stranglehold over the Malay / Muslim majority community. UMNO’s financial stranglehold is unprecedented!
The Malaysian economy is now a bastardised version of capitalism and free trade, skewed to support the UMNO oligarchy. In the result, corruption has been pervasive and the will to resist the onslaught by the political leadership at all levels of UMNO have all evaporated. The two common refrains, "mesti cari makan" (must earn a living) and "ikut arahan sahaja" (just follow instructions") are invoked to justify inaction and indifference!
In case the Najib regime and its cronies are jumping with joy at their apparent invincibility, let me sound a warning to Najib and UMNO puppet leaders.

Take heed of the immortal words of Mahatma Gandhi when he addressed his nation,
"When I despair, I remember that all though history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it – always."
The very strength of UMNO and its present leadership is also its greatest weakness. The organisational and political culture of UMNO is unbridled power and lust for money. It has been said that when a nation values anything more than freedom, it will lose its freedom; and the irony of it is that if it is comfort or money that it values more, it will lose that too.
Given the above scenario, I am of the view that UMNO and the Najib regime have reached the zenith of its power and dominance in 2015. Beyond this peak, it can be only a downhill plunge to defeat and ignominy.
Najib and the members of his inner circle are in a desperate struggle for survival and their priority is to avoid by any means, incarceration of their crimes for the financial rape of the country. And given the present mind set of the regime that every problem requires the use of a sledge hammer as the solution, Malaysia should expect in the coming months more brutality, abuse of power and financial scandals. But, the good people of Malaysia should not be afraid and feel despondent for the Law of Karma would prevail.
It is a given that the more brutal the oppression by the regime, the more severe will be the backlash and retribution.
Have faith in God Almighty.
