REALITY CHECK - So here's the deal folks. China has 1.5 billion people. Huge market. When it sneezes, we all catch a cold. That's a fact.
Here are other facts to consider.
Like it or not we are a small nation compared to them. Like it or not, Malaysian economy can benegatively affected if they were to boycott us...as what's already being touted in the international media.
So..good job those 'Malaysians' who were so Gung Ho in the last 2 weeks in bashing the country.
You managed to get the international attention you were craving for. How lousy Malaysia is, the government sucks, etc etc.
As some of you put it, the whole world knows and now they are going to do something about it. They are going to boycott Malaysia. Stop giving us tourism money. Stop buying Malaysian goods.
Reality check...is that going to affect you?
Hey man...do you think when your company earns less money you're going to get the pay increment? Next year's bonus?
God forbid, but you may even lose your job. Then who's going to feed your children? Pay your house and car installments? Utilities? Less income means less taxes. Which leads to less subsidies.
Yeah..We know what's going to happen then don't we?
Do you think people from China can differentiate who supports the government or opposition? Do you even think they care?
What???...you think they will be selective on who they do business with?
Buy only from those who support opposition?? So how do you prove that? Wear a badge everytime you meet them and say you are Pro PR? Or maybe show them your FB posting for the last 1 year? Hey Mr. Chinaman, please buy from me. I hate my government!!
And yes..should the economy fail..blame the government. You had nothing to do with it. Or you were merely stating the 'truth'.
Here's the truth.
We are all in the same boat. And it's a rough sea we are all sailing in. If you insist on scooping water into the boat while the rest of us are bailing out the water, then I hope you are a good swimmer.
For me...well, I do hope our Diplomatic Corp and government can bail us out this time. And I know they have a tough job to do. I hope they can find MH370 and ride out the storm as safely as possible. I hope they can repair whatever damage that has been done so we can sail smoothly for the next 4 years. I have bills to pay and mouths to feed too.
Why 4 years? Because for those of you who hate the government and want a change...that's when you cast your vote for change. Make your choice and your decision then. Do your campaigning then. That's what democracy and voting are for.
But in the meantime...row or give a hand in keeping us afloat.
Or go for a swim....In the Indian Ocean...without a life jacket.
