PKR denies its Perak assemblyman resigned

PKR today denied that its Hutan Melintang assemblyman S. Kesavan has left the party.
The party’s communications director Fahmi Fadzil said that Kesavan appeared to be the latest victim of a series of fake letters and media statements designed to confuse the public and tarnish the party’s image.
Fahmi said he had confirmed with another PKR assemblyman in Perak that Kesavan strongly denied that he had written a purported letter saying that he was resigning from the party.
“The party will be issuing a statement on this. A few weeks ago the same thing happened to (PKR deputy president) Azmin Ali.
“The party will be issuing a statement on this. A few weeks ago the same thing happened to (PKR deputy president) Azmin Ali," he said..
A rumour making its round stated that Kesavan, a two-term assemblyman, hasresigned from the party, based on a letter circulated to the media.
In the letter, which was made available to The Malaysian Insider, Kesavan informed Perak Speaker Datuk Seri S.K. Devamany that he was leaving PKR with immediate effect because he had lost confidence in the party’s leadership.
Attempts by The Malaysian Insider to contact Kesavan were unsuccessful. He had told party officials that he would be getting married on February 16.
On January 27, the same day that Lee Chin Cheh resigned as the Kajang assemblyman, a media statement purported to be from Azmin was emailed to major news outlets.
The false statement suggested that Azmin did not want party de-facto chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the candidate for the upcoming Kajang by-election.
In May 2013, Kesavan won the seat by 1,240 votes, getting 10,155 votes against Barisan Nasional’s Supramaniam Ramalingan who got 8,915 votes, Mat Sidi Hashim (413 votes) and Berjasa’s Azahari Abdullah (353 votes). – February 4, 2014.
