PKR’s Hutan Melintang assemblyman in Perak, S. Kesavan, has allegedlyresigned from the party.
In the resignation letter, seen by The Malaysian Insider, Kesavan wrote to the Perak Assembly speaker Datuk Seri S.K. Devamany, saying he was leaving PKR with immediate effect.
He said he had lost confidence in the party’s leadership.
Attempts to contact Kesavan have been unsuccessful.
DAP Perak chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham said he had no idea about the letter and was surprised to hear about it.
PKR supreme council member Mustafa Kamil Ayub told the Star Online that he had attended a supreme council meeting last month with Kesavan and Kesavan had made no mention of the letter.
Instead, Kesavan had told him that he was getting married on February 16.
In the last general election, Kesavan won the seat by 1,240 votes.
He polled 10,155 votes against Barisan Nasional’s Supramaniam Ramalingan 8,915 votes, Mat Sidi Hashim (413) and Berjasa’s Azahari Abdullah (353).
